* This table shows the results for NPS areas participating in the 2005 ozone health advisory program.
† Ozone values above 84 part per billion (ppb) exceed the ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard of 0.08 part per million (ppm).
‡ Great Smoky Mountains NP – there were three days when health advisories were issued at the park. Two of the days the advisories were for fine particulate (less than 2.5 microns) and ozone conditions, and one day the advisory was for ozone conditions only.
§ Mammoth Cave NP – there were three days when health advisories were issued at the park. Two days the advisories were for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) conditions only and one day the advisory was for ozone conditions only.
** Rocky Mountain NP – Ozone health advisories were issued at the park based on ozone alerts forecasted by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). An ozone alert forecasted by CDPHE for the Front Range Metro Area includes all of Boulder and Larimer counties. Since portions of Rocky Mountain NP are located in Boulder and Larimer counties, an ozone advisory at Rocky Mountain NP was initiated by the park when CDPHE forecasted an ozone alert for the Front Range Metro Area.

The 8-hour ozone health standard can be exceeded anytime during a 24-hour day time period. Ozone health advisories are initiated during the daylight hours, therefore, the ozone health standard can be exceeded at an area and an ozone health advisory not be issued.
